FAQ

What is a leveled classroom?

In a leveled classroom, teachers assess students' academic abilities and adjust the curriculum to meet each student at their current level of understanding. This approach recognizes that students may excel in some subjects while needing extra support in others. By individualizing instruction within the same classroom, educators can provide targeted support and challenges to help each student reach their full potential across different subjects. This approach fosters a more inclusive and supportive learning environment where students receive personalized attention and instruction tailored to their specific needs. It allows for differentiated instruction, where teachers can adapt their teaching methods and materials to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students in the same classroom. Overall, leveled classrooms aim to maximize student learning and growth by addressing individual strengths and weaknesses effectively.

How do we handle standardized testing?

At OOTKS Academy, standardized testing is not a current requirement due to the regulations for private schools in the state of Texas. As a result, standardized testing will not be conducted at the academy. Instead, the focus will be on providing a comprehensive and individualized education tailored to each student's needs and abilities, without the necessity of standardized assessments.

What grade levels are represented?

Our intial launch of the One of the Kids Academy will include Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

What kind of school are we?

OOTKS Academy is a non-profit educational institution with a focus on inclusivity and personalized learning. It caters to students of all backgrounds and abilities, aiming to provide them with the necessary resources and support to excel academically. The school seems to prioritize individualized instruction, allowing students to progress at their own pace. The academy utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies and research-backed programs to support student learning.

Do we have a faith affiliation?

OOTKS Academy does not have a faith affiliation. The school is not associated with any religion and welcomes individuals of all religious backgrounds. Additionally, the academy aims to accommodate requests regarding scheduling around religious holidays, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity and respect for diverse religious beliefs.

Are meals served at school?

OOTKS Academy does not provide lunch for students. Parents are required to provide their children with lunch daily. However, the academy does offer facilities such as a refrigerator, microwave, and toasters for storing and preparing food brought from home. Additionally, OOTKS Academy may provide snacks and treats as part of activities, but lunch is not included in the school's offerings.

Are diagnoses required?

At OOTKS Academy, a diagnosis of autism or other behavioral disorders is not required for enrollment. The school accepts students regardless of whether they have received a diagnosis. However, if families wish to access additional Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services at One of the Kids (OOTKS), an autism diagnosis is required.

What are the sizes of the classroom?

Each classroom at OOTKS Academy is designed to accommodate a maximum of 10 students. In addition to the teacher, there will be Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) present to provide behavior support. The ratio of staff to students will average 1 teacher or behavior support professional per 3 students, ensuring personalized attention and support for each student's individual needs.
